The short version
This site sets no cookies at all unless you accept analytics. Decline, and nothing is stored on your device. The site works identically either way.
What a cookie is
A small file a website asks your browser to keep, so it can recognise the same browser later. Useful for remembering a preference; also how visitors get tracked around the web.
What we use
Google Analytics, and only after you have accepted. It tells us which pages people read and roughly where in the world they are, so we know what is worth writing more of. Your IP address is anonymised, and we never send it your email address or anything you typed into a form.
We remember your accept-or-decline choice in your browser’s local storage, so you are not asked on every page. That is a preference you set, not tracking, and clearing your site data removes it.
Changing your mind
Clear this site’s data in your browser settings and the banner will ask again. You can also install Google’s opt-out add-on, which blocks Analytics everywhere.
